X-Win32 Licensing
License Options :
X-Win32 offers two license types:
Node-locked Single Licenses
These licenses require a one-time online registration. The license is tied to the PC hardware, usually the serial number of the Ethernet card. Node-locked licenses are shipped standard on purchases of 1-9 licenses.
Each license comes with 3 registrations, one for the initial registration and two back-ups to be used when the user changes computer hardware. Many customers use their back-up registrations for a second or even third computer such as a notebook or home PC. Users who frequently change computers or who have numerous computers on a LAN that they use, are advised to order a concurrent license instead.
Concurrent (Floating) Network Licenses
StarNet’s concurrent network licenses do not require a dedicated license server. The licensing is self-monitoring. Example: If you purchase a 5-user license, up to 5 users on your network can run X-Win32.
The concurrent licensing allows customers to install X-Win32 on any number of PCs on their network. Concurrent licenses are also used for installation on Windows Terminal or Citrix servers.
Note: Concurrent licenses can significantly reduce the cost per user. When comparing pricing of X-Win32 versus a competing PC X server using a Per Seat licensing model, please be careful not to compare X-Win32 pricing without taking the concurrent cost into consideration. Example:
Company with 50 users. Maximum concurrent use is 25:
- X-Win32 cost is quoted at 25 x $170 = $4,250.00
- Competing X server cost is quoted at 50 x $125 = $6,250.00
- Conclusion, X-Win32 costs considerably less while serving the same group of 50 users
